Austria Backyard Ultra -
Kirchdorf in Tirol 2026
+ PREMIERE:
Austria Backyard 7+1
The flattest Austria Backyard Ultra in Austria!
How many rounds do you dare?
7 laps is more than a marathon.
15 laps is 100 km.
24 laps is 100 miles.

Austria Backyard Ultra on the flattest course in Austria
The Backyard Ultra mode is very simple.
Every hour the runners start a 6.706 km (=4.167 miles) long course. You have exactly one hour to do this. If you don't finish the round on time and don't start again, you're out!
No late start! Very easy! ;-)
The event runs until there is only 1 runner left on the course. => open end
The race takes place according to the official Backyard Ultra regulations of the American original.

PREMIERE: Austria Backyard 7+1
What is Austria Backyard 7+1?
It runs the same course as Austria Backyard Ultra. See below for details on the route.
Austria Backyard 7+1 starts 30 minutes after ABU so that runners do not meet and support each other on the course.
Unlike the ABU, the first seven laps/yards (=marathon) of the AB7+1 are run in the usual Backyard Ultra mode. The eighth lap is the final lap for everyone.
The fastest runner in the eighth lap is the winner!
The lap times in the first seven yards do not count towards the final result.
The race ends for all participants after the eighth yard.
Take it easy during the first run of the marathon, then sprint for the winning yard!
Is the Austria Backyard 7+1 officially accredited?
YES.
The yards of the Austria Backyard 7+1 are included and evaluated in all ABU statistics.
Your result therefore counts towards both the ABU Hall of Fame AND the Austria Backyard Ultra Series ranking!
In addition, the results are also officially recognized for Laz's international Backyard Ultra statistics. However, the 8 yards will probably not be enough to qualify for the World Championships. ;-)
When can I arrive for the Austria Backyard 7+1 and move into my athlete camp?
Since the Austria Backyard Ultra starts the day before, you should arrive and move into the athlete camp on the day of the competition, i.e. Sunday, if possible.
If there is sufficient space available in the ABU athletes' camp on Saturday evening due to participants who have already left, you can move in after consulting with the organizer (please be sure to ask!).
Please note that your place can only be guaranteed from Sunday morning onwards.
Participants in Austria Backyard 7+1 enjoy all the benefits of the event that you are familiar with from Austria Backyard Ultra Events.
I have already registered for the Austria Backyard Ultra Kirchdorf and would like to change my registration to the AB7+1. Is that possible?
YES.
You can easily change your registration up to one month before the event.
We will refund you the difference between the entry fee you have already paid for the ABU and the entry fee for the AB7+1, minus a small processing fee of EUR 5.
With Austria Backyard 7+1, we're rocking Sunday and celebrating the ABU participants, who are already on their second day on the road.

The yards (= laps) of the three participants are simply added together.
If one team member drops out, the others can continue running as normal for as long as they want.
Run together, have fun, and motivate each other to achieve peak performance!
There are great prizes from La Sportiva for the winners.
Maximum security in uncertain times!

organizational
-
The route is sufficiently marked and secured by marshals. After 10 laps at the latest, you already know the way blindly. 😉
-
The route is mostly on wide asphalt roads. There is only one long, steep climb to run. The rest is flat.
-
In the start-finish area there is space for chairs, a cool box, a sleeping tent or a small pavilion for the runners. First come - first serve! Runners who drop out early must give up space in the start-finish area. This allows runners who are still in the race to move closer to the starting line.
-
Sanitary facilities are available near the start-finish area.
-
Refreshment station is in the start-finish area. There is no aid station on the route.
-
Inappropriate behavior on the running course (especially throwing away trash) will be punished with immediate disqualification.
-
The run takes place at your own risk and on your own responsibility on a route that is not closed off or monitored. On roads, the StVO must be followed and the traffic observed. Vehicles are to be expected on the running track.
The participant is responsible for accidents or injuries of any kind and must take out adequate insurance himself. The landowner and the organizer are not liable for this.
